Daughter of Theodore (Toby) and Gertrude Mohrfeld, Anne was born in Ft. Madison, where she grew up on the farm with her eight siblings. She graduated from Marquette High School in West Point in 1967 and earned a degree in medical technology from Quincy College in 1971. That year Anne married the love of her life, LeRoy Schulte, and they moved to Topeka. , Kansas, where Anne worked as a lab technician while LeRoy served in the Air Force. In 1973 they moved to Marshalltown, and Anne continued her career as a medical technician and then as a clinic director at the Marshalltown Medical Clinic/McFarland Clinic while she and LeRoy raised three boys.
Passionate about education, Anne taught at Marshalltown Community College and served as chair of the Green Mountain-Garwin School Board. Throughout her life, Anne’s strong faith and joyful spirit inspired many. She has spent countless hours serving others, including through St. Mary’s and St. Francis of Assisi Parishes, the Emergency Food Box, and the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). Anne also enjoyed gardening, reading, the card club and seeing friends. More than anything, she valued the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who will always remember her as their greatest cheerleader (and ruthless checkers player).
Anne is survived by her husband LeRoy; son Jason, daughter-in-law Jill and grandsons Max and Leo, of San Francisco, California; son Ryan, daughter-in-law Raneen and grandchildren Macy, Kate and Colton, of Waukee, Iowa; son Kevin, daughter-in-law Kelly and grandchildren Quinnlyn and Conor, of Johnston, Iowa; and beloved siblings, other relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents and sister Adele “Delli” Lampe.
