As I write this article, it is Teacher Appreciation Week. It will be over by the time you read this article, but after what has happened with COVID for the past few years, I am convinced that teachers in our Catholic schools need more than a week.

Over the past few years, while many schools have remained closed, the principals, teachers and staff of all Catholic schools in the diocese have worked tirelessly to ensure that children can not only go to school in person, but that they made it safe for them. be there too.

During this time, schools in the diocese worked hand-in-hand with the Office of Catholic Schools and diocesan employees to ensure protocols were in place and high academic standards were always met and achieved.

Mission of the schools

The mission of our Catholic schools is to “cultivate the love of Christ and his Church by inviting students and the whole school community to meet and know Jesus and to embrace a loving God.

“Catholic schools seek to assist parents with an excellent moral and academic formation for their children, developing the talents of all students, and fostering a commitment to service, justice, and the sanctity of human life.”

By making a donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA), you allow this mission to be accomplished.

The annual Catholic Appeal provides support services to schools and also helps in the training and support of our principals, teachers and staff.

Through the ACA and the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools, schools are trained in best practices in Catholic identity, development, marketing, program evaluation, technology and human resource management .

Additionally, teachers can utilize mentor training and learn best practices in curriculum, technology, new teaching methods, and student assessment.

All of this is provided with the goal of enabling students to achieve a high level of academic achievement while keeping Christ at the center of it all.

Catholic schools play a vital role in transmitting the faith and training future generations who will maintain vibrant communities of faith, worship and service in our parishes.
