Our support of Samaritan House over the past few years is an extension of our corporate commitment that every person, especially our children, deserves a safe and healthy home in which to grow and thrive.

Drucker + Falk (DF), one of the nation’s largest multi-family management companies, announced its sponsorship of the newest Samaritan House mural to raise awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month ( CAP) in April. Samaritan House helps victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and homelessness through a holistic approach to healing. They offer emergency and permanent housing, case management, advice and assistance in navigating the legal system for men, women and children in need. With more than half of all victims Samaritan House serves being children, the organization was on a mission to highlight this issue in a big way this year and DF looked forward to continuing to show its support for the cause.

To help raise awareness, Samaritan House has partnered with local artist, Parrish Majestic, to paint a community mural on a wall at 757 Makerspace, an artist studio in the booming railroad district. from Norfolk – where high visibility was guaranteed. The official unveiling took place on Thursday, April 28 with remarks from the artist, some sponsors and the chairman of the organization’s board of directors.

While the mural is sure to add to the already artistic community, Parrish’s vision transcends what you see in the room, having incorporated very specific flowers that represent things related to Samaritan House’s mission and customers.

Forget-me-nots: symbolize true love and respect. When given these flowers, it represents a promise that will always be remembered.

Columbine: Represents aspiration, endurance, ascension, risk taking, good fortune, faith and peace.

Lupin: represents imagination, admiration and general happiness. Lupine brings the energy of inner strength to recover from trauma.

Morning Glory (Purple): symbolizes royalty, nobility and beauty, as well as innocence and love. This purple color is the main color of the Samaritan House and domestic violence awareness.

DF has a long history of partnering with the organization, including support for previous murals rallying around domestic violence awareness. “Our support of Samaritan House over the past few years is an extension of our corporate commitment that every person, especially our children, deserves a safe and healthy home in which to grow and thrive.
