Hamilton Health Network invites the community to celebrate National Health Center Week

FLINT, Michigan — Hospitals and access to health care are integral to a healthy and thriving community. Locally, Hamilton Community Health Network is a pillar of the greater Flint community. To celebrate National Health Centers Week, they invite residents to come together to publicize their work and recognize their accomplishments.

From August 9 to 12, the health network will offer free community resources and civic engagement. Part of the purpose of the donation event is to provide access to those in need of resources.

Tim McCarron, senior outreach and enrollment coordinator at Hamilton Community Health Network, said the mission “is to shine a light on our community health center and share the value it brings to everyone it touches” .

Some of the resources that will be available this week will be clothing, hygiene products, showers and laundry services as well as access to many local organizations and their resources.

The event will begin on Tuesday, August 9 with Community Awareness Day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., anyone struggling to find a place to call home can benefit from free laundry services, free showers, socks and underwear, hygiene kits, snacks, bottled water and a visit to the clothes closet. There will also be a food truck offering lunch options and live music.

This event takes place at the Center for Hope in the Hamilton-Flint Clinic parking lot at 812 Root St.

Wednesday, August 10 is Senior Brunch and Learn, located in the McFarlan Court Street Villages. This educational and entertaining session includes food, fitness, conversation and health resources for local residents. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon and places are limited. To RSVP, contact Tim McCarron at 810-406-4246, ext. 4955.

Rounding out the week-long community event is Family Fun Day on Friday, August 12. “This Friday, we hope to see the whole family at our main clinic for fun and free food, as well as music, entertainment and a chance to win multiple raffle prizes,” McCarron says.

The annual event is a favorite for many local families, offering live music, cooking demonstrations with chef Nate Brown, health resources, and more. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hamilton Main Clinic, the event is proudly sponsored by HAP, Molina Healthcare and Genesee Health Plan.
