Huskies welcome Bradley Monday night

DeKALB, HE – The Northern Illinois University women’s basketball team returns to the Convocation Center Monday night to face the Bradley Braves at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and locally on WLBK 98.9 FM / 1360 AM.

NIU (1-1) is looking to return to the winning column after a 70-53 loss to Harvard on Nov. 14. Junior guard Chelby koker led all the game’s scorers with 23 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists per game. Koker has picked up where it left off last season in basketball scoring, averaging 20 points per game in two games last season. She averaged 21.1 points per game in sophomore last season.

The Huskies scored 77 points in their home opener against Illinois State on Nov. 9, a 17-point win for NIU. Since the start of the 2018-19 season, the Huskies are 19-3 when they have scored at least 70 points at home. NIU is averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game this season after making nine attempts in 31 at Harvard. Koker and Janae Fish (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) combined seven of those trebles against the Crimson. Poisson is NIU’s second-leading scorer with 12.5 points per game.

Bradley (3-0) stayed perfect at the start of this season on Friday night with a 64-57 victory over Wisconsin on Friday night. Fifth-year goaltender Gabi Haack led the Braves with 24 points in the win. Bradley is averaging 77 points per game to start the year, keeping his opponents at 58.3 points per game. First-year guard Caroline Waite leads Bradley with 18.7 points per game and Haack averaging 15.3. NIU leads the all-time series against Bradley 12-8, but Bradley won last season’s meeting 79-71 at Peoria.

Masks are mandatory at all times for those present at the NIU Convocation Center for men’s and women’s basketball games, unless you eat or drink. A clear bag policy has been instituted for Huskie Stadium and the NIU Convocation Center. No large bags or purses will be permitted for NIU men’s and women’s football, volleyball or basketball matches. Approved bags include one 12 “x12” x6 “clear plastic stadium bag or one gallon clear plastic storage bag or pouch size 4.5” x6.5 “or less.
