Karen Marie Davis died on December 16, 2021 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.
A longtime volunteer, Karen has spread joy everywhere she went in her 75th birthday. Born in 1946 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Olga Marzinko and Frank Wheeler, Karen was the younger of two sisters. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Lancaster and graduated in Cosmetology from Willow Street Vocational Technical School.
Although Karen worked as a hairdresser for much of her life, her true happiness lay in serving her community. She was an active member of the Sertoma Club, Leadership Lancaster, American Legion and AmVets. She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and was a passionate writer, emphasizing poetry and prose. She served on the Penn Manor School District Board of Directors and PTO for many years, holding key leadership roles including President. It was there that she met Captain Edward Davis, whom she married, and traveled across the country together to deliver speeches on American freedom, patriotism, heroism and virtues. They lived together with great happiness, and they had many adventures until his death.
Karen had another chance to love. Her life with Lou Krisay spanned a decade of caring for each other until she passed away earlier this year. They enjoyed traveling together, spending time with their large group of friends and two small dogs.
Among Karen’s many skills and talents, her most unique ability was to make people feel special. She was an incredible listener. She could stand in a grocery store checkout line for ten minutes and walk away knowing all about the life of the stranger standing behind her.
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Karen who was such a dear friend to so many.
Karen is survived by her four children: Mark S. Roda, Tara McNaughton Kinney (Adam), Kimberly R. Moorhead (Tim) and Tim D. Roda (Allison). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Emily, Zach, Hamilton, Eve, Violet, Georgia, Claire, Noelle, Ethan, Rocco, Tre and Andre.
Karen will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, next to her husband Edward. A memorial service celebrating the life of Karen will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Lancaster Country Club, 1466 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
