Masses planned in Catholic cemeteries on Memorial Day

The Catholic Cemeteries Association of the Diocese of Cleveland has scheduled masses at several of its cemeteries on Memorial Day, May 30. Some masses will take place outdoors, others indoors and in a few cases the liturgy will take place in a church. .

Father Luigi Miola, pastor of St. Martin de Tours Parish in Maple Heights, will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 480 W. Highland Road, Northfield. He will be assisted by Deacon Raymond Daull, also from Saint-Martin de Tours. Mass will be indoors.

Father Frederick Pausche, pastor of St. Gabriel Parish in Concord Township, will celebrate an outdoor Mass at 10 a.m. at All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Road, Chardon. The concelebrant will be Father David Majikas, pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Barberton.

Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Roger Gries will officiate the 10 a.m. outdoor Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 10000 Miles Ave., Cleveland. Father Thomas O’Donnell, retired diocesan priest, will concelebrate.

Father Frank Kosem, a retired diocesan priest, will celebrate Mass inside the mausoleum at 9 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Road West, Lorain. Knights of Columbus James L. Martin Council 637 will hold a dedication ceremony for the newly installed Memorial for Unborn Children immediately following mass. Light refreshments and desserts will be served after the ceremony at K of C Hall, 4720 Oberlin Ave., Lorain.

Retired Diocesan Priest, Father Thomas McCann, will celebrate an outdoor Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road, Akron.

Father Joshua Cochrac, Parish Vicar of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Parma, will celebrate an outdoor Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park.

Retired Diocesan Priest Father Robert Kraig will celebrate an outdoor Mass at 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 6303 Center Road, Valley City.

An indoor mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 32789 Detroit Road, Avon, by retired diocesan priest Fr. Gerald Keller.

Father James Mayer, O of M, parish priest of St. Rocco’s parish in Cleveland, will celebrate Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 3205 Fulton Road, Cleveland. This liturgy replaces a Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery on West 41st Street in Cleveland.

Father Ralph Hudak, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Cleveland, will celebrate an indoor Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4720 E. 71st St., Cuyahoga Heights.

Celebrating a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave., Elyria will be Father Daniel Schlegel, Diocesan Secretary/Vicar for Clergy and Religious. This liturgy replaces Mass at St, Mary’s Cemetery in Elyria.

There will also be a mass at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Falls Church, 25615 Bagley Road, Olmsted Falls.

Those attending outdoor Masses should bring a lawn chair and an umbrella in case of inclement weather.
