US News and World Report announced their 2022-2023 ranking of the best hospitals. American News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in specific specialties, such as cardiology, and in some common procedures and conditions, such as heart failure, hip fractures, and accidents cerebrovascular.

Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City ranks #2 in Missouri, #2 in the Kansas City metro area. Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit is tied for No. 3 in the Kansas City metro and No. 8 in Missouri. Both are recognized as some of the best hospitals in Northwest Missouri.

“It is such an honor to be recognized again by US News and World Report as providing some of the best care in the country, said Julie Quirin, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Saint Luke Health System. “This recognition exemplifies the commitment and dedication of Saint Luke’s doctors and nurses, as well as other professionals who provide the highest level of patient care in our community.

US News and World Report also closely assesses and ranks specialist services. Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery specialty was ranked 22nd nationally. This is the third year in a row that she has been among the top 25 in the country. Saint Luke’s also ranks #1 in Missouri and #1 in the Kansas City area.

“We are extremely proud to once again be recognized as providing the most comprehensive cardiovascular care in Kansas City,” said Matthew Deedy, MD, co-medical director of Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute. “To be continuously ranked among the top 25 cardiac programs in the country is a significant honor and a testament to the skill, dedication and commitment to excellence that we strive to deliver to our patients every day.”

For 2022-2023 rankings and scores, American News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialties, 164 hospitals were classified in at least one specialty. State and metropolitan area rankings reflect the region’s top performing hospitals in several areas of care.

“As patients and their healthcare professionals consider their options for care, the rankings are designed to help them identify hospitals that are superior in the type of care they may need,” said Ben Harder, head of the health analyst and editor at American News.
