Sara Christina Mitchell, whose energy, passion for excellence and herding spirit made her a well-respected marketing professional in the creative community of Sonoma County, passed away on December 26, 2021. She was 56 years old. year.
Sara had an incredible will and determination which she applied throughout her life and to everything she did, including multiple and repeated episodes of cancer. She was always sunny and positive, never letting combat slow her down or stop her from living her best life. Even with this last battle, she fought with all her might until the very end. She passed away peacefully in her home with her loving husband and devoted life partner Alex by her side.
Sara was born in Huntington Beach, California on March 26, 1965, to Thomas and Alice Obuchowski. She grew up in Southern California with her siblings, Marcus and Susan, until the family moved to Santa Rosa in 1975. Sara attended St. Eugene Catholic School and graduated from high school. of the Ursulines. She then attended Santa Rosa Junior College, then transferred to California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she earned a degree in Business Marketing.
Sara began her successful 30-year career with the Santa Rosa Symphony as Director of Marketing and Public Relations in 1991. She worked with four of the orchestra’s music directors and oversaw marketing and ticketing operations for the complex transition to the orchestra’s new location. at the Green Music Center. She was a loyal employee, a demanding and knowledgeable supervisor, and an organized and fun-loving colleague. Sara was highly regarded for her authenticity and attention to detail by Symphony customers and vendors. She had a lasting impact on the Symphony organization, which had been her only professional home until her retirement in 2021.
Sara is remembered by her many friends as a lover of wine tasting, picnics and parties of all kinds. Sara had a love and appreciation for all genres of music. People were drawn to his bubbly personality and charmed by his welcoming demeanor. She had a keen eye for design and fashion, especially shoes! She could take on almost any DIY project with gusto and excellent aftercare.
Sara also loved the outdoors and traveling; in fact, she met her husband Alex during a chance stopover on a road trip in Oregon. Since this chance meeting in 2004 and their festive wedding in 2011, Sara and Alex have created a sweet and supportive relationship that has been a joy and an inspiration to their family and friends.
Sara Christina Mitchell is survived by her husband Alex Mitchell, her two step-sons Preston and Skylar Mitchell, her brother Marcus Obuchowski and her sister Susan Obuchowski. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Alice Obuchowski.
