The Bulldogs fell behind early and could never pick up speed, scattering just four hits on the day.

Kenry Manzanillo went 1 for 2 with a brace to lead the way, while Yordy Contreras (1 for 3), Guilmer Galva (1 for 3) and Eldrian Bonilla (1 for 3) each had a base hit in the loss.

Lynn English (2-4) travels to Malden on Monday (4).

Franklin 14, St. John’s Prep 4

Theo Vetere went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs in the Eagles loss, while Jack Fillion went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Tucker Larson had two hits on the day, while Nick Solitro and Cam LaGrassa each had one hit.

St. John’s Prep (5-2) travels to BC High on Monday (4).

SOFTBALL

Bishop Fenwick 12, Rockport 5

Gigi Aupont had another great day in the circle to lead the way for the Crusaders, pitching a full game and allowing five runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Offensively, Arianna Costello went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Emma Burke went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, while Meghan Burkinshaw went 3 for 4.

Bishop Fenwick (4-2) travels to Bishop Feehan on Monday (3:30 a.m.).

Wayland 12, Winthrop 10

Winthrop (2-6) hosts Masconomet on Wednesday (4).

The Big Blue made nine errors in the first-round game and could never pick up any speed.

Consolation Game (Sunday)

Medford 7, Swampscott 6

Jocelyn Spickard had a great day in the circle for Swampscott, striking out 13 in a tight loss. Nicolette Fraser led the way on offense for the Big Blue, scoring three hits, including a triple.

Swampscott (4-4) hosts Saugus on Wednesday (4:30).

BOYS LACROSSE

Marble Head 18, Peabody 2

Carter Laramie led the way for the Magicians with five goals, while Josh Robertson was close behind with four goals and Connor Cronin added three goals and two assists. Charlie Grenier added two goals, while Cole Gallup had one goal and two assists. Tucker Lubeck, Drew Nelson and Cam Waldman each scored their first career college goals in the win, while Finn Maniaci (nine saves) and Aiden Thang (two saves) combined for the win in net.

Marblehead (5-2) plays on the road at Beverly Monday (4).

Nick Salvati and Cam Collins each scored a goal in the Tanners’ loss, while Matthew Lindstrom had an assist. Goalkeeper Derek Patturelli made 11 saves.

Peabody (2-4) is now out until Thursday (4) when he hosts Danvers.

Championship game

St. John’s Prep 14, Franklin 13

Tommy Sarni was the star of the day in the Eagles victory, scoring the game-winning goal with a second to go to give St. John’s Prep the Creator’s Crosse Tournament title.

Sarni finished with six goals and two assists on the day to lead the preseason offense, while Charlie Wilmot had four goals and an assist. Jimmy Ayers added three goals and an assist, while Lucas Verrier scored one. Jake Vana had four assists, while Noah Brown and Tyee Ambrosh each had one assist. Goaltender Teddy Cullinane made 14 saves.

St. John’s Prep (7-2) hosts Malden Catholic Tuesday night (5:30 p.m.).
