Sciarretti crowned queen of roses

The New Philadelphia Lions Club recently crowned Gina Sciarretti as the 2021 Pink Queen at the Rose Day Club’s annual banquet at Ricardo’s in New Philadelphia. Sciarretti’s selection makes her the club’s 72nd Queen of Roses, dating back to 1949. Samantha Masters and Alyssa Miller join her on the pitch.

Gina is the daughter of John and Lori Sciarretti. She is in her final year at Tuscarawas Central Catholic and taking post-secondary courses at Kent State-Tuscarawas. Her school activities include volleyball, basketball, track and field, student council, class treasurer, and the National Honor Society. She was a delegate to Buckeye Girls State last summer. After graduation, she plans to study the pre-med program with an emphasis on pediatrics.

Samantha is the daughter of Mike and Susan Masters. She is a senior at the Buckeye Career Center in the pre-nurse program. She has been a member of the Marching Quaker Band and the Winter Guard for four years. Her outdoor activities include part-time jobs, volunteering at church, and she has been a member of 4-H for 10 years. Next year, she plans to enroll in the Kent State-Tuscarawas Nursing Program and hopes to someday work in pediatrics.

Alyssa is the daughter of Chris and Renée Miller. She is in her final year at New Philadelphia High School taking post-secondary courses at Kent State-Tuscarawas. Its school activities include basketball, track and field, student council, the Spanish club, and the National Honor Society. She was recently crowned New Philadelphia Homecoming Queen. After graduation, she plans to play basketball at the college level and study sports marketing or sports management.

The Pink Queen and Assistants were selected by seniors from New Philadelphia High School, Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, and Buckeye Career Center.
